The Dread Virus Roberts
Since no one appears to be racing,
Not Giants, nor princesses hast'ning,
The myst'ry remains that we're facing:
Who catches the Dread Virus Roberts?
Inigo Montoya makes threatenings,
His enemies fear greater reckonings;
Like pirates in masks who are menacing,
We mask from the Dread Virus Roberts!
Good-natured Sicilians may poison,
And Buttercup's eyes may yet moisten,
While some doubt the problem is noisome,
The rest fear the Dread Virus Roberts.
Once shut in with naught to relieve you,
The four walls can force a naive view:
A Syndrome from Stockholm can leave you
In love with the Dread Virus Roberts.
The variants found in far reaches
Remind us what pandemics teach us:
No matter what fills viral niches
There's always new Dread Virus Roberts.

The Duck
In lieu of dew and hue of dawn
The night in spite must heed the light,
And we migrate, this climate pawn
For lasting resting in the Son.
(I wrote this when I was about 20. The
fun is that the first line alludes to all four
of Disney's famous duck family.)
